Over the years, IвЂ™ve developed a decent grasp of many of these functions, which has made. Rager, fermentation profiles, etc, etc, etc. Is that an issue? How else are people figuring out boil volume if this is unchecked? I was introduced to BeerSmith in May of 2011 and was initially overwhelmed with the plethora of options equipment and mash profiles, ingredient lists, water calculator, Tinseth vs. One change I did make with this new profile was checking 'Calculate Boil Vol Automatically' which the original post did not recommend but I wasn't sure how else to get the boil volume doing a smaller batch. Below is a screenshot of the equipment profile I've created and slightly adjusted for a 3.5 gal batch. I initially used the Grainfather profile provided, but then found a few posts that recommended adjustments (a new equipment profile).
